Global student championships

The world student championships are organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

Within these championships, a distinction is made between FISU World University Championships, FISU World University Games and FISU University World Cups.

The World University Championships are separate world championships for students in, each organised in a different country.

As a student, you compete at these championships on behalf of the Netherlands.

The World University Games are like the Olympics, but for students. Like the Olympics, there is a summer and a winter edition. With more than 150 countries participating across 25 different sports, it is the largest multi-sport event for students in the world. The event takes place every two years

As a student, you appear at these events on behalf of the Netherlands.

The University World Cups are final tournaments you qualify for as a team after the European Student Championships have

won. At these events, you compete on behalf of your educational institution.

From the Netherlands, the SSN Topsport foundation is responsible for the recruitment & selection of students towards the World University Games and World University Championships. They do this in consultation with the relevant sports federations.
